Pickens not rushing recruitment

Dorian Pickens

Dorian Pickens has a long list of scholarship offers and interest, but the 2014 shooting guard from Arizona isn't rushing a college decision. Here's the latest on his recruitment.

Dorian Pickens has a good list of scholarship offers, but the 6-foot-5, 205-pound Phoenix Pinnacle 2014 shooting guard is in no rush to make a decision.

Offers have come in from schools such as Arizona, Arizona State, Boston College, Colorado, New Mexico, Northern Arizona, Rice, USC and Washington, with Stanford being one of the programs closely monitoring the four-star prospect.

"A lot of schools have been recruiting me pretty hard but I'm still open to all schools," Pickens said. "I'll narrow down my list after the season and then take some unofficials and officials to help me figure out where I want to go."

Pickens hopes to check out schools both close and far away before making a decision.

"I want to check out schools like Harvard, Stanford, UCLA and USC, schools like that, and it would be nice to go out east to see some schools too," he said.

There will be a number of factors that play into Pickens' ultimate decision.

"Education is going to be important, a good atmosphere, academics and a school where I trust the coaches," he said. "I also want to go somewhere that I'm comfortable."

Don't expect Pickens to make an early decision.

"I'm taking my time," he said. "I don't want to rush the process at all. It's a big decision so I don't want to rush it."

As for his junior season, Pickens is happy with how everything is going.

"I've been playing well," Pickens said. "I've been much more of a leader out there and being a lot more aggressive on the offensive end. I'm trying to do as much as I can in my game to make it successful.

"I'm being more aggressive, attacking the basket, looking for my shot a lot more and trying to be a lockdown defender as well."
