Eagles Land a Leopard

Commit Interview

Youngstown (OH) Liberty high School Wide Receiver/Safety Marcellus Bowman (6-3, 170, 4.5) has given his verbal pledge to the Boston College Eagles. What factors weighed in his decision?

Bowman had offers from Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, West Virginia, Purdue, and Syracuse. Pittsburgh was the early leader but a recent trip to Boston swayed Bowman.

"I went up there on Sunday and left Wednesday, and I fell in love with the school. It was the perfect fit for me. The campus is beautiful; they are putting money into the whole University and not just the athletics. Downtown Boston is only like 8 miles away and I liked that also," said Bowman.

Will you take any visits or attend camps?

"No, my word is bond. I have committed to Boston College and I'll keep my word. I am focusing on helping Liberty High School right now."

Marcellus is a big rangy WR prospect who was an All-Conference selection in 2003. He scored 5 receiving touchdowns and returned two interceptions for touchdowns starring as a ball hawking safety for the Leopards.

The bowman family was very excited for Marcellus especially his mom Vanessa Bowman.

"I just want what's best for him, if he's comfortable there I'll support him in whatever he does" said Vanessa.

Coach Jim Bridge was responsible for recruiting Marcellus.
