Prospect Interview

On Monday afternoon the Eagles received a commitment from a talented New York prospect. Who is he and why did he give BC his pledge?

The Boston College Eagles have landed another commitment LB/S Paul Anderson (6-2, 217, 4.5) Polytechnic Prep in Brooklyn, NY. This gives the Eagles their fourth verbal commit of 2005 joining WR Marcellus Bowman, LB Mike McLaughlin, and TE Jim Ramella.


Anderson made his verbal pledge yesterday.


"I called yesterday and told Coach O'Brien that I was committing to Boston College," said Anderson


What was coach O'Brien's reaction?


"He was excited, he said he had goosebumps, and he welcomed me aboard."


Anderson chose Boston College over offers from Iowa, West Virginia, Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Syracuse, and Duke. In the end it wasn't a hard choice for Anderson.


"I went to camp there last year, they offered me last year. I knew all along I was going there I just decided to get it over with and take the pressure off.


Who was responsible for your recruitment at Boston College?


"Coach Bill McGovern."


Are you glad that the process is over?


"Yes I'm very glad."


Do you plan on taking any more visits?


"No, I'm 100% committed to Boston College."


What kind of player can the Eagle fans expect to see in Paul Anderson?


"I'm hard working and very dedicated."


Anderson was named to the tri-state all-star team and was also a Daily News all-star selection after a junior campaign in which he recorded 69 tackles while playing both linebacker and safety. Offensively, Anderson played both running back and wide receiver where he accumulated 20 all-purpose touchdowns. Anderson will play Strong Safety for Boston College.
