![]() Tom Farinacci

Tom Farinacci looked like a sleeper last summer. In June he was named the fifth-best quarterback prospect in the Scout.com Northwest Hot 100 List. | |||

But with Signing Day just a week away, the 6-foot-2” recruit from Beaverton, Oregon has not received a single offer. Boston College was interested in Farinacci back then, but that ended abruptly. “They were in contact with me by letters mostly,” Farinacci said. “But their interest ended before the season started. They said they were looking at some other guys and they ended up signing them. I was pretty interested in them, but that’s recruiting, you know?” Farinacci’s buzz grew quickly after a solid performance at the regional Elite 11 in Las Vegas, where he showed off sound fundamentals, mobility, and accuracy. Local Division I programs like Oregon, Oregon State, Washington, and Boise State all took a look at him. But now, after losing his starting job at Southridge High early in the season only to gain it back in the playoffs, Farinacci’s offer list is non-existent. “I have no offers,” he said. “I’m looking to stay on the West Coast. I’m looking at Humbolt State [Division II] in Northern California and Linfield [College, Division III]. “The other schools just had other guys on their board and decided to go with them. I was their #2 guy and they would end up taking the #1 guy. I’m not really disappointed because I know I’m going to be able to play football in college somewhere and get a good education.” Farinacci, who reported a 3.6 GPA, even ran a 4.5 40 last summer at Southridge. Speed at quarterback is something the new BC coaching staff had been seeking, as evidenced by last week’s commitment from Chris Johnson. But the school’s interest in Farinacci ended so long ago, he wasn’t even on BC’s radar. Nor is he on anyone else’s. |
