Campus Round Up

It was a busy day on campus as three teams were in action. For a little change of pace, we offer a quick campus round up of today's action at The Heights.

It was a busy day in Chestnut Hill, as the baseball, softball, and women’s lacrosse teams were all in action.

-The softball team gave #17 UMass (21-6) all they could handle, but a 9th inning home run by Carly Normandin put the Minutemen on top, 4-3. Freshman Morgan Kidd was strong in defeat for BC, pitching 8.1 innings and allowing 2 runs, while striking out 10. The Eagles (14-21) now head south for a 3-game weekend series at Virginia Tech.

-The baseball team roared back from last night’s disappointing loss with a convincing 10-0 thrashing of Rhode Island. The victory makes BC 20-11 on the season. Six BC pitchers combined to four-hit the Rams (17-12-1), with Dave Laufer pitching three innings to earn the victory. Mickey Wiswall went 2-for-3 and set the tone with a 2-run, first inning home run.

-The lacrosse team suffered a setback on Wednesday, as the highly-touted Boston University Terriers (10-3) upended the homestanding Eagles, 13-6 . BU jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first half before outscoring BC 8-6 in a wild second half. Kristin Igoe led BC with 2 goals.

The game was dubbed the Under Armour “Power in Pink” game as money was raised to benefit the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund.
