Rated the 16th running back in the country, Joe Randle has plenty of offers from coast to coast.…
Randle Taking It Slow
"Coach Brock is recruiting me for Boston College. He used to be at Kansas State and we have developed a good relationship from his time there.
"I don't know a whole lot about BC. I know they had a great quarterback, Matt Ryan. Other than that, I know they are sponsored by Reebok. They are on TV all the time. So, I've seen them play plenty of times."
Despite the high ratings and early offers, the recruiting process has gone slow up to this point. Many coaches stopped through his school in May and continue to call and send information.
"It is been a lot of talk and stuff. I have not really been thinking about recruiting and that stuff. There has been a lot of coaches coming to school and calling my coaches. But, I have not been thinking about it too much. I'm just focusing on getting ready for my season and working with my teammates."
Randle has a few local camps to attend in the summer, but is not spending the summer visiting schools. In addition to working out with his team and some local camps, he is preparing to take his ACT, which is the most important thing at this time.
Asked if school work was taking precedence over football concerns at the moment, Randle said, "Most definitely, the educational opportunities are important when looking at colleges, but you have to do the work now. My brother is an engineer and my sister was pre-med. She is going to medical school now."
As a player, Randle is described as an all-purpose back. In his sophomore season he rushed for 1,733 yards and 22 touchdowns. Last season, he rushed for 834 yards, but also caught the ball out of the backfield and scored 15 touchdowns.
"As a player, honestly, I don't think there is anything I cannot do on the field at running back. I'm more of an all around guy. I can get to the outside or take it up the middle. It depends on the situation. We run a bunch of different stuff in high school. We run some spread, we'll run the Wing-T and we run some Pro-Set."
Randle does not have a time table for making a decision. He intends to take his official visits in the fall as time allows and then sit down and consider his options after his senior season.
"The plan now is to try and take some short visits in the summer to the schools that are close by and then take my officials in the fall. I think most of it will happen after my season is over."
