BC's game against Weber State shouldn't provide much drama but will have plenty of storylines. While everyone is talking about Herzlich or the weather, a critical development will be taking place at the line of scrimmage: BC will be breaking in a new Center, Nathan Richman.
The decision to move Richman from Guard to Center was somewhat of a surprise. Richman had played well as a part-time starter at Guard and had no previous experience snapping the ball. Most expected Mark Spinney to move up from his second string spot or see Thomas Claiborne -- who has played a little center -- to move over from Right Guard.
In the first few scrimmages Richman struggled with the exchanges. He's also been battling a bad back. No one expects him to be all conference right from the start, but if he struggles it could impact the entire line.
And what happens if Richman has back issues? True Freshman Andy Gallik is listed as his back up. Gallik has played well, but OLine U doesn't want to throw a true freshman into the fire like that.
Although it is not reflected in the depth chart, it is likely that Thomas Claiborne would move over from RG.
So the Weber State game represents Richman's first chance to prove himself in his new position. Even if he struggles, BC should have no problems winning the game but would have questions to address in the coming weeks.
