| Along with classmate Charlie Villanueva, invited to tryout for 2004 USA Basketball World Championship For Young Men Qualifying Team, July 16-18.
As a UConn freshman, Boone averaged 5.9 points, 5.8 rebounds (second behind Emeka Okafor) and 1.7 blocks and started all but one of his 38 games. Named to Big East All-Rookie team.
Boone, who was fully qualified out of high school, spent a post-grad season at West Nottingham Academy in Colora, Md. He averaged 28 points, 16 rebounds and 9.7 blocks per game in the 2002-03 season. He committed to UConn over Kansas and Virginia in October 2002.
He averaged 20 points, 14.4 rebounds and seven blocked shots per game as a senior at South Carroll HS in Winfield, Md. where he was named the Carroll County Player of the Year and First Team All-Metro (DC). |
