Biography:
Transferred to Connecticut in the summer of 2003; sat out 2003-04 season under NCAA rules.

Spent first two collegiate seasons at Georgia Tech. As a freshman, Nelson started 28 of Tech’s 31 games, averaging 8.5 points and 6.9 rebounds; he was named the ACC Rookie-of-the-Year. During sophomore season, he averaged 8.1 points and 6.5 rebounds.

Nelson was named Florida Player of the Year by USA Today and Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel as a senior when he averaged 26 points and 11 rebounds.
