JUNIOR SEASON (2005-06)
Season Notes: Earned third-team All-ACC honors • First Tar Heel to earn All-ACC honors after not starting a game in his first two years since Shammond Williams was a third-team pick as a junior in 1997 • Increased his scoring by 12.0 points per game from his sophomore to junior seasons, the second-highest increase by any Tar Heel (record is 12.1 by Donald Williams, who went from 2.2 points per game in 1991-92 to 14.3 in 1992-93) • Had the highest scoring increase from 2004-05 to 2005-06 among ACC players • One of only two players in the ACC to increase his scoring by 10 or more points (Georgia Tech's Anthony Morrow, +10.3). Scored in double figures 24 times (was in double figures twice as a freshman and one time as a sophomore) • Scored 20-plus points in back-to-back games for the first time in his career with 24 at Wake Forest on Feb. 19 and 20 at NC State on Feb. 22 • Averaged 16.0 points in ACC road games • Scored in double figures in 15 of the last 19 games (17 or more in 11 of those 19 games) • Shot 50 percent or better from the floor in 11 of the last 17 games • Started 30 of 31 games at small forward • Shot 51.8 percent from the floor and averaged 15.4 points in Carolina's 23 wins and 35.0 percent and 11.0 points in eight defeats • Averaged 15.1 points in ACC games • Second on the team in scoring at 14.3 points per game, 45 three-point field goals and 27 blocked shots • Led UNC and was seventh in the ACC in free throw percentage at .800 • Converted 99 of his last 118 free throws (83.9 percent).
SOPHOMORE SEASON (2004-05)
Played in 32 of the 37 games, including 13 of the last 15 games • Shot 54.2 percent from the floor (26 of 48) • Was a solid contributor off the bench in the last four games of the regular-season, when Rashad McCants was out due to illness • Played 30 minutes in those four games • Scored 73 points, had 22 rebounds, seven assists, seven blocked shots and nine steals for the season •Made 12 of 20 shots from three-point range (60 percent) and converted key three-pointers in wins over Maryland, NC State and Duke • Scored five or more points in eight games • Scored a season-high 11 points in the home win over the Terrapins • Came off the bench with the Tar Heels trailing, 29-24 • Scored five of UNC's next eight points, including a three from the corner in front of the Maryland bench to give Carolina a 32-30 lead (UNC never trailed again) • Hit an early three-pointer in the road win at Connecticut • Played 15 minutes in the win at NC State and had two blocks and a three-pointer • Gave the Tar Heels a 45-41 lead over Duke (March 6) with 55 seconds to play in the first half with a three-pointer from the right wing • Played in four NCAA Tournament games, including both games in the Final Four • Scored two points on a first-half dunk in the national semifinal vs. Michigan State.
FRESHMAN SEASON (2003-04)
Played in 25 games, including 12 in ACC regular-season play and three postseason games • Scored 40 points, had 21 rebounds, four assists, three blocks and 10 steals • Shot 43.3 percent from the floor • Scored in double figures on two occasions • Had 14 points in a season-high 16 minutes against Coastal Carolina when he made 6 of 8 shots from the floor • Had a season-high seven rebounds against the Chanticleers • Also had 10 points and three offensive rebounds against George Mason • Scored six points and had three rebounds in close win at Cleveland State • Went 2 for 2 fro |
